The Anubias Lanceolata (or known by its scientific name, Anubias heterophylla 'Lanceolata') is a hardy, waxy leaved aquatic plant like its other Anubias relatives. What makes the Lancelolata distinctive is the long pointed leaves unlike the more common Anubias varieties which have rounded leaves. The species tends to grow very large, though it will take some time to reach full size.
Anubias is a tropical plant found in West and Sub-Sahara Africa. It is a wonderful plant for aquariums that can be grown either submerged or emerged in water. The plant forms a robust rhizome that may take up to a few years to fully mature. These plants rarely flower, and it is unlikely that flowers will form in typical aquarium setups. Anubias thrives best under low light conditions and can benefit from regular fertilization, though not always necessary with the right aquarium setup.
